THE BAPTIST CONFESSION  FROM 1689 TO 2021

For almost 350 years, many churches and Christians have looked to the Second London Confession of Faith, known by many as the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith, as their doctrinal standard. That’s true for many today, but others would challenge its usefulness in the 21st century. Is there really a place in today’s churches for a document as detailed and specific as the Confession of Faith? Should we not rather replace it with a short and concise statement of faith that has less depth and which will cause fewer doctrinal disputes? Our first conference covered this topic and it was a blessing to those who gathered with us on Zoom.
